ENABLE EMPLOYEE FLEXIBILITY IN THE FACE OF TECHNOLOGY TRANSFORMATION

In today’s corporate world learning has become as much a part of the job as working. As new technologies come out, become updated and eventually outdated, purchasing the latest digital innovations just isn’t enough. Advanced as they may be, technologies can only be as good as they are operated. That means that in order to “stay in the game” organizations need to encourage their employees to progress along with the digital tools of the time, and provide them with the means of doing so.

NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION

Knowledge is growing. In fact, not only is it growing, but the rate of its growth itself is steadily rising. According to the Buckminster Fuller’s Knowledge Doubling Curve theory, as time goes by, not only does human knowledge grow, but the rate of its growth is also accelerating. According to estimates based on Fuller’s model, by 2000, human knowledge doubled every year. In comparison, current estimates observe that knowledge is now doubling almost every day. To be sure, the real picture is more complicated than that. Not all fields of knowledge are progressing at the same rate. But when it comes to the business world, one thing is for sure: companies which desire to survive and even thrive in the face of competition and ever-accelerating change, need to be able to encourage and enable their employees to adopt change, and fast.

With so much at stake, traditional methods of learning, though tried and true, may not be enough. The fast advancement of technologies, requires similarly advanced methods of learning to allow organizations to keep pace with change and even push forward. This has resulted in the development of innovative solutions, and at the forefront of these, is digital adoption.

How Digital Adoption Enables Employee Flexibility

Digital adoption, as its name suggests, is a collection of digital tools all developed for purpose of providing organizations with a comprehensive solution to all their knowledge and skill adoption needs. is an in-app application, which provides employees with the information they need, when they need it, without requiring them to stop working in order to seek help, or further guidance…

Getting the Edge and Keeping It

Mounting the cutting edge of technology, however, is only half the challenge. Information growth is only half the picture, because as knowledge and technology progress, they also become obsolete just as fast. According to Marc Rozenberg, the speed “it takes for knowledge to become outdated, incorrect, or irrelevant” may very well be an even bigger issue than the speed at which information is growing. To illustrate this Roznberg observes that “information that 10 years ago was useful for 12 months might only be valuable for 6 months today.”

The bottom line? Digital adoption is neither a sprint nor a marathon. It is a principle of excellence, a commitment. There is no finish line. As employees master a certain technology, new updates and even its successor are already in the works. Therefore, onboarding employees onto new systems is not enough. The organizations also needs to keep the employees knowledge up-to-date. This is where the advantages of guided learning become evident, again…
